Found dog.

Ok, I know a lot of you guys are off at college now and away from Naperville, but I just thought I'd post this here in case anyone has ANY info. Last night, my boyfriend and I found a dog in his driveway (in Ashbury) on Thackery Lane. We took it in for the night and dropped it off at animal control this morning. No one has called in about a lost dog yet, but we're hoping that it will be found by its owners soon before they decide to euthanize it. :(

It's a fairly big dog - medium large and completely white with 4 brown patches (two over its eyes, one on its back, and one on its tail). It's a male - neutered. We think he's an American Pitbull Terrier, but we're not sure. He's super friendly and well-trained and VERY cute, so I couldn't imagine someone just leaving him to fend for himself. He didn't have a collar or tags, and no chip. If you know ANYTHING about this dog or someone who might be missing him, let me know or call the Naperville Police Department's Animal Control Unit. :) If you would be interested in adopting him after 7 days... call them and let them know as well so that he won't be put to sleep.

Thanks! :)

Couldnt you have given the dog to adopt, so that it wouldnt have been euthanised?
I was going to say the same thing... in the future, if ANYBODY finds a dog, take it to a no kill shelter.
Like I said above, the only problem with that is they have horrible hours. Also, many times when people lose a dog, they file a report through the police department.
Yeah, except ADOPT wasn't open last night OR this morning. Which kinda sucks, seeing as both ADOPT and the Naperville Humane Society should have better hours than like 5-8, ya know? :(

I plan on calling back and getting the dog back after 7 days if no one claims him and then taking him to ADOPT myself. Thanks for the suggestion though!
It was very good of you to pick up the dog. :) You seem like a really caring person.

If I hear anything about a missing dog, I'll let you know!
Thanks! :)
Yeah until the dog gets put down.

...are you just dense or something?
How am I dense?
Look again...
Ok...?
She wasn't. She was responding to Josh, which is why her reply was under his comment and to the right.

Like all replies.
what mactheknife said. :) you aren't dense.
Haha except for when I totally missed that it wasn't about me. ;)
I like making my point twice in the case when innocent animals risk being put down.

I'm sorry, but to be honest I really like dogs. I have a chocolate lab that I adore.

I'm only trying to make a point.
That's nice of you, but your point was invalid because she said she was going to go back to get the dog so it wouldn't die. I never said you didn't like dogs...
Reading comprehension +1
I'm not going to let the dog get put down. I'm going to call the animal control office this weekend and let them know I will take the dog back after the week is up and drop it off at ADOPT. Even still, the police department claims that after a week, they will try to only euthanize the older or sick animals, and this one, a healthy young dog they will bring to a shelter to be adopted.
